This is a vintage original Atomic Age c.1950 grocery store Christmas advertising poster issued by the California Fruit Growers Exchange featuring Santa Claus flogging Sunkist California Oranges. A gigantic but friendly Santa Claus steps over a snowy mountain range but instead of his bag of toys this Santa carries a wooden crate full of juicy Sunkist oranges with a headline that proclaims Just what you asked for! The back of the poster is printed with instructions for using the poster as part of a wall, window or floor display. We don’t find a date on this poster but it looks mid-century and we place it to around 1950 or so.
This poster was folded and shows moderate handling wear including a small puncture without paper loss in the word “Sunkist” and a short tear of about a half inch on the bottom edge. The poster also shows very slight buckling along the left edge from coming into contact with water at some point but there is no mildew, staining or other evidence of water damage beyond just very slight buckling to the paper along the left edge. The colors remain strong and overall condition is very good for this vintage original piece of Atomic Age Christmas advertising.
