This vintage original and very rare silk screen blacklight poster featuring the iconic rock band Led Zeppelin was issued in conjunction with the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival. The Atlanta Pop Festival, sometimes referred to as “The Woodstock of the South” took place at the Atlanta International Raceway on July 4th and 5th, 1969 just about a month before the famous music festival at Woodstock, New York. Attendance at the Atlanta festival was estimated as high as 150,000 with an all-star line up of performers that included not only Led Zeppelin as featured on this poster but also Blood, Sweat & Tears, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, The Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, Chicago Transit Authority, Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Dave Brubeck Trio w/ Gerry Mulligan, Grand Funk Railroad, Tommy James and the Shondells, Janis Joplin, Johnny Rivers, Spirit, The Staple Singers, Johnny Winter and more. Despite temperatures approaching 100 degrees and inadequate planning by organizers the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival was such a huge success that it was repeated again in 1970 when the attendance soared to an estimated 600,000. This poster was issued during the first year of Led Zeppelin’s existence as a band and features portrait images of all four members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham.

This is a very rare poster that’s almost impossible to find. A slightly smaller version with a different border, probably pirated, was produced in the UK but this the true American first edition of this 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival poster. This poster has been professionally linen backed and a single pinhole in the margin on each corner skillfully repaired. There is a small bit of replaced loss in the margin on the upper left side not affecting the image area. The poster showed moderate handling wear and a few lateral crease lines have been expertly mitigated during the linen backing process. The colors remain strong and the poster displays wonderfully. Overall condition is very good.
