This delightful Maine pictorial map poster was produced by the Simonds Payson Company advertising agency of Portland and issued in the 1950s. The map is brightly festooned with dozens of pictorial icons and small caricatures highlighting Maine’s many outdoor recreational offerings, landmarks, industries and points of interest including skiing, hunting and fishing, universities and colleges, historical sites, national parks and more. This poster isn’t dated but a small trout icon tagged “Mr. President” makes reference to President Dwight Eisenhower’s 1955 fishing trip to Maine so we would date the poster to the mid 1950s.

The lower margin indicates "Cartographers J.G. Shelley & Louis Koster".

This vintage original poster has light handling wear and slight toning to the margins. The back of the poster shows some foxing which does not show on the front or affect the artwork which displays beautifully with bold color. Overall condition is very good for this Atomic Age original.
