This vintage original poster was created by the Nebraska born noted illustrator and artist John Falter and issued by the U.S. Navy in 1942. For this recruiting poster Falter renders an image of a rugged lantern jawed US Navy sailor, against a billowing American flag background, looking resolutely forward under the title REMEMBER LAST DECEMBER!. Below the image Falter paraphrases Lincoln’s Gettysburg address with text that reads “that free peoples may not perish from this earth” and below that ENLIST IN YOUR NAVY TODAY. The lower margin indicates a 1942 publication date.
This vintage original WWII poster has been professionally linen backed with expert touch as needed to mitigate some short tears on the edges and a couple of vertical crease lines. A small bit of paper loss in the margin along the top edge near the left corner has been skillfully replaced not affecting the image area. The colors remain strong and overall condition is very good.
