This vintage original and rare WWI poster was issued by the United States Treasury in 1917 to help promote the Second Liberty Loan which ran from October 1 to November 15, 1917. This large horizontal format poster features an imposing view of the United States Treasury building in Washington D.C. The artist’s use of a large foreground and upward perspective of the building enhance a sense of permanence and stability of the United States Treasury and the bonds issued. At the time this poster was issued in 1917 the streets around Washington’s Treasury Building were yet to be paved.

This rare unrestored poster is a vintage original issued in 1917. This poster shows moderate handling wear and the original fold lines. A few short tears on the edges without loss of paper were repaired on verso a long time ago with a few small pieces of tape which were removed and neutralized. A few small pieces of easily removable acid free archival tissue were then applied on verso to stabilize the tears. The colors are remarkably strong and the poster displays beautifully.  Overall condition is very good.
