This is a vintage original WWII era trolly car style horizontal format poster issued by the United States Treasury to help promote the sale war bonds in connection with the 3rd War Loan Drive. The poster isn’t dated but the 3rd War Loan Drive ran from September 9 to October 1, 1943 so thus the date. This poster is signed in printed by the artist Chester Bratten and features an image of smiling FDR with his quote:
“As Commander-in-Chief, I hereby invoke every citizen to give all possible aid and support to the 3rd War Loan Drive" – Franklin Roosevelt
The bottom of the poster is printed 3rd WAR LOAN and “An Official Message Distributed By Office Of War Information”. This poster is printed one side only in lightweight cardboard in the horizontal format of the type used mostly for overhead advertising on street cars, buses and trains.
This vintage original poster looks unused and shows only slight handling wear and some toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
