This vintage original poster was created by Nebraska born artist John Falter and issued by the U.S. Navy to help recruit women to serve as WAVES. The WAVES were the women’s branch of the United States Naval Reserve with the name an acronym for Women Accepted For Volunteer Emergency Service.

For this poster Falter renders an image of a woman in WAVES uniform assisting a naval aviator with text that reads She’s Helping To Win…how about you? and Serve in the Navy…Enlist in the WAVES. The date 30 December 1943 is printed in the lower margin. The artist’s name, John Falter USNR, is signed in print in the image area near the right edge.

This vintage original poster was never used and has no tape or pinholes and just light handling wear including edges slightly bumped in spots, slight creasing to the lower righthand corner and a short quarter inch tear on the left edge. The poster has a small puncture hole of less than a quarter inch in the lower edge near the bottom edge not affecting the image area. Overall condition is very good.
