This vintage original and rare poster was issued by the United States government during WWII to help promote the sale of War Bonds to non-English speaking Americans and prospective Americans. This same poster design was issued in a variety of different languages with the version here being the French language edition. The French language text Pour des Jours Meilleurs translates to “For Better Days” in English. The image of the Statue of Liberty would no doubt resonate with the non-English speaking audience, many of which would recall her holding her lamp high at the golden door as the first memory of their arrival on America shores. The Statue of Liberty imagery might have added meaning for the French since it was France that gave the Statue of Liberty to the United States.

This vintage original poster is folded as issued and has no tape or pinholes and just light handling wear including a short quarter inch tear in the margin on both right and left side. The original owner made a brief pencil notation in the margin on the upper righthand corner and the poster otherwise looks unused. The poster retains strong color and displays beautifully. Overall condition is very good.
