This vintage original WWII era placard sign poster is printed one side only on cardboard and was issued by the United States Coast Guard to stop smoking in unauthorized areas. This sign has text that reads:

U.S. Coast Guard – NO SMOKING by order CAPTAIN of the Port – FIRE AIDS THE ENEMY!

The lower is printed “39 A-44” which we take to indicate a 1944 publication date. Also printed in the lower margin is “Graphic Unit U.S.G.C.”. This poster has few small spots, some toning from age and moderate handling wear including a bit of creasing to the upper left hand corner. Overall condition is very good. See our other listings for the “Smoking Permitted” companion poster to this one.
