This vintage original large format WWII poster was created by the artist Linn Ball and issued by the United States Treasury in 1945 to help promote the Christmas season sale of war bonds. The image of the biblical magi or Three Wise Men riding camels under a Christmas star is used to promote the sale of war bonds as holiday gifts. The artist’s name Linn Ball appears in print in the lower left hand corner of the image area. There are at least two variations of this poster and this is the “Buy Bonds For Gifts” version with the other featuring identical artwork titled as “For Peace and Security Buy Bonds”.

This vintage original large format poster is folded as issued and shows moderate handling wear. This poster has no tape or pinholes and probably wasn’t hung up or used but does have a tear without loss of paper of about six inches on the top edge and a small notch off the left edge at the center fold line. Overall condition is otherwise very good.
