This vintage original and rare WWII poster was created by the artist Ronald McLeod for the Petroleum Industry War Council. The poster features the image of an earnest looking Admiral Ernest J. King, Commander-in-Chief of the United States Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations during WWII with his quote “The Navy must have 16 million gallons of fuel a day to carry the fight to the enemy”. The image of Admiral King is bracketed on a patriotic red, white and blue background with the taglines MAN YOUR STATIONS! on the top and Stick to your job – OIL IS AMMUNITION across the bottom of the poster. The lower margin indicates “Petroleum Industry War Council”.

This poster isn’t dated but the Petroleum Industry War Council was established in December 1942 and continued to operate through the duration of the war. We date this poster as c.1943. This poster is folded as issued and shows only light handling wear and a small VFW ink stamp near the lower righthand corner. This rare poster is virtually impossible to find.
