This is a vintage original c.1956 cardboard window card style recruiting sign or poster issued by the U.S. Navy. This poster features a striking Mid-Century Modern design of an Atomic Age US Navy sailor manning the controls of a ship with an atomic particle and submarine appearing in the image above him. The submarine is undoubtedly the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world’s first operational nuclear powered submarine, which appears on a few of the posters Binder created for the US Navy around this time in the mid 1950s. Text on the poster reads: JOIN modern mobile mighty NAVY. Binder’s name appears in print on the left edge of the image.

This is a vintage original unrestored cardboard window card style poster. This poster has a snipe pasted along the bottom edge with the address of the US Navy recruiting station in Peoria, Illinois. This poster shows light handling wear and slight toning on the edges. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good for this great piece.
